WATER LOTUS: The lotus is the usually everyone's favorite pond plant. It is exotic and vibrant, with a tropical appearance. The lotus' flowers are breathtaking, as welll as extremely delicate. It flouishes in shallow depths and loves to bloom in the warm summer son. Our secret to a bountiful lotus is proper placement, the right fertilization, and precise potting techniques. We can guarantee your lotus plant's beauty, as it thrives, with maximum yields, during it's peak summer growing season.
PINK LOTUS rEd LOTUS
the “First Lady” is an easy bloomer with large leaves and lots of beautiful flowers. Feed with fertilizer every 2 weeks. Requires full sun and warm water. The “Caspicum” red lotus has a slight fragrance and can grow 3-5 feet out of the water. They require sun and constant water temps above 70ºF.
           
  WHITE LOTUS     YELLOW LOTUS
The white “Shirokunshi” lotus requires full sun. Once established, expect to see lots of blooms. Mild fragrance, beautiful tulip like flower pedals. The “Slocum” lotus has an intense fragrance with a large frilly blossom. Color slightly changes as it matures. require full sun and warm water.
LOTUS potting: Many pond owners find the lotus a little tricky to handle. Lotus' are a very delicate plant, but in the right environment, they grow quite easily. The banana-shaped root of the lotus is called a "tuber" – and they’re very fragile. Handle them with extreme care so as not to break off the pointed tip of the tuber, from where the leaves will eventually grow. The lotus will not grow if the tip of the root is damaged in any way. Warmth is also essential to keeping the root healthy. Keeping the tuber too cold may cause it to rot before it takes root, so colder winters may cause harm to your lotus. Plant the "tuber" in rich aquatic soil and continuously add fertilizer tabs throughout the growing season. Ironite also helps keep it's leavs green and healthy. Lotus should be kept in shallow depths of no more than 12-15 inches.
POND PLANT MAINTENANCE: When adding plants to the pond, understand that there is required maintenance that goes with having a beautifully manicured pond. Large ponds with lots of plant decor, will require more pond maintenance. Knowing which plants to add to the pond and understanding where to put them, will greatly reduce the time spent pondscaping.
